D. Day one is spent waking up in Reykjaivk. Breakfast in hotel, and then flight to Kulusuk, where Jakob awaits us and takes us to Hotel Kulusuk. Dinner is served at the hotel.
Accomodation in Kulusuk is at Hotel Kulusuk where we will have our meals. The hotel is half way between Kulusuk village and the airport. We will walk to the village of Kulusuk, stopping at the cemetery and a few other points of interest. In Kulusuk we will visit the East Greenland Culture museum, and learn about Polar Bears. Possible meet some sled dogs. Dog Sledding or Snowmobiling are possible if there is enough snow still.
After breakfast at the hotel we will depart by Helicopter from Kulusuk airport to Tasiilaq. The flight is only 25 min, but provides some breathtaking views as we leave the island of Kulusuk for the island of Ammasalik. Tasiilaq is the largest town in the whole of East Greenland. The town has a fishing industry, small tourist industry, and service industry. The population is about 2.700 people. Upon arrival we will be taken to the Hotel Angmagssalik where we will spend the next two nights. Today we will explore Tasiilaq by foot, and head on a hike to the valley of the flowers. Dinner and other meals are at the hotel.
Today we will be taken out by outfitter Arctic Wonder on boats. We will head out and around the island to visit one or two of the other small communities on the island. Each community has an inuit population of about 20 to 30 people who are 100% dependent on fishing and hunting. We will be provided lunch on the boat, or at shore. The day will include some hiking / with guide. Dinner is back at the hotel in the evening, and the day would not be complete with going down to the local bar in the evening to meet some local people.
Departure back to Iceland. Tasiilaq to Kulusuk by helicopter, and Icelandair back to Reykjavik, where you will connect to your international flight home.
